The Sleeping Dragon Awakes?

First I'm going to get the egocentric MEMEME post out of the way (and attempt to disguise it as a bit of blog housekeeping).

Where to begin?

Well, this blog is about to change. For how long I don't know right now, but it is. A lot of old entries are going to be permanently archived, and a lot of new entries are going to bear little resemblance to the bulk of previous ones. In other words, it's not going to be what you're used to.

If you're a long term reader (of which I have maybe four), congratulations! Your persistence has paid off, and Trin is finally posting again!

Anyway, what has been the catalyst for this? Well, recent political events in my country have reinvigorated my activist soul, and I find myself with so much to say but nowhere to say it.

Is it conceited of me to think what I have to say is significant or worthy of being heard? I really don't know.

I do know that current events directly affect me and mine on many levels.

I also know that many other people are speaking out and having their say when it DOESN'T directly affect them.

So I've been bombing Facebook, that evil den of iniquity, with posts in the past couple of days, but I'm sure the majority of my regular friends list are getting sick to death of it (they're used to a post once in a blue moon about my kids or something else totally innocuous). Probably think I've been hijacked by radicals or something (hahaha if only they knew).

So my dear blog, I'm afraid your lovely sedentary life of one post every year or so is about to change.

About the title, I find it very appropriate that my activism has resurged just as the Chinese New Year rolls in, ushering out the Year of the Rabbit (my sign) and welcoming the Year of the Dragon!

Been busy (and lazy), so here's a hottie for you.

Timana Tahu, centre for the mighty Parramatta Eels, back when he played Union. He's even hotter now he's back in the blue and gold of the Eels (and more buff too). More hotties next time I post.

In other less exciting news, I'm enjoying being pregnant again now...and just in case you haven't heard, it's two boys, so C is really happy. J2 turned three yesterday, and J1 turns 14 on Saturday. Nothing else of real interest to note.

OMC...shocked stunned and amazed.

I'm having twins!  No wonder I've been so tired and sick.  Honestly, I'm only conscious for about 4 hours of the day.  Funnily enough, now that I know I'm having twins, I feel less sick (well at least today I have) AND I'm finding it hard to sleep tonight.  Shame really, I was just getting used to sleeping at night heheh.

You know, before I had children, I really wanted to have twins.  Then I had one baby and changed my mind.  THEN my former best friend had twins, and my decision solidified, I really REALLY didn't want to have twins.  Now it looks like I'm going to be getting my original wish...12 weeks pregnant with two.  I'm in shock and overwhelmed.

My last post where I complained about feeling like I was giving birth to litters of squalling children must have jinxed me!

I'm also unbelievably excited...can't wait to find out the gender (would like to wait until the birth, but will have to have extra scans so might find out inadvertently), can't wait to find out if they're identical or fraternal...it's all so thrilling but scary too, like going on a roller coaster that just MIGHT come off the tracks!

Am pregnant again for hopefully the last time.

And I feel like a gross animal or something, giving birth to litters upon litters of squalling children.  Also feel sick and tired all the time.  I'm getting too old for this shit.

These horrible things are in my garden.

Warning to any arachnophobes...don't look please.

One nasty mudder fudger.

The most aggressive spider in the world, and I'm sharing living space with it. I must have been really really bad in my past life.

Apparently they like to wander when it's humid and raining too, searching for mates. Well, guess what the weather has been like lately? Yes, humid and rainy. I'm not normally fearful of spiders, hell I like the little critters...I used to catch flies and throw them into webs just so I could watch the spider dash out, paralyse them and wrap them up in webbing, but these guys? They look like the Handmaidens of Hell or something.

And now for something completely different...

I'm hungry and craving Sultana Cornflake biscuits (cookies). Unfortunately I don't have enough sultanas OR cornflakes to make a full batch, so I'm experimenting.

Original recipe calls for:
125 g butter
1/2 cup caster sugar (superfine in USA)
1 lightly beaten egg
2/3 cup sultanas
1 cup SR flour
1 1/2 cup cornflakes

I'm using:
125 g butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar (I have no caster sugar)
1 lightly beaten egg
2/3 cup mixed sultanas and chopped lolly snakes
1 cup SR flour
1 1/2 cup combined cornflakes and crushed weetbix

Method:
Preheat oven 180c, grease oven trays. Beat butter and sugar until smooth, add egg and combine. Stir in sultana/lolly mix and sifted SR flour. Roll teaspoons of this mixture in cornflake/weetbix and place 3cm apart on greased tray. Flatten just a little, then bake for 20 mins or until golden brown. Cool on wire trays.

They've got about another 15 mins to go and smell pretty good so far. Hope they work out all right, but really, it doesn't matter because I'll eat them anyway.

edit to add: my biscuits are the total bomb....NOM NOM NOM!

Got our house yesterday...

YAY, finally!!

Now comes the really hard work of getting everything up there.
